The Academy was founded by Katie Gomez in May of 2009.  Originally known as Limelight, Move - Academy of Dance has been serving the Brownsville and lower Rio Grande Valley community for 13 years. Ms. Katie has been dancing since she was a child, and has been a dance instructor throughout the Rio Grande Valley for over twenty years, having taught Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Lyrical/Modern, Hip-Hop, Belly Dancing and Bollywood.  Ms. Katie is nationally certified by Dance Educators of America. She has attended many dance conventions and competitions and has won awards for her own dancing as well as her choreography from different companies throughout the United States.  It is Ms. Katie's great pleasure to see her own students being awarded the very same honors and it is her dream come true to own and direct Move - Academy of Dance. ​
